AislePrice

Privacy Policy

Effective November 3, 2026

The short version

  • Barcode scanning happens on your phone. Camera images are never uploaded.
  • Your location is used to find nearby stores and is not stored.
  • You can use AislePrice without an account. An email address is only needed if you choose to save your account or ask us to tell you when we launch.
  • Prices you report are shown to others without your name, and with only a rough time, so nobody can tell from AislePrice when you were in a store.
  • No ads, no tracking, and we never sell your information.
  • You can delete your account at any time. Your email and name go; the prices you shared stay, without your name.

This policy covers the AislePrice Android and iOS apps and the website at aisleprice.com, which are run by Wright Consulting, LLC (together, "AislePrice", "we" or "us"). It explains what information we handle, why, who else sees it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. Questions go to support@aisleprice.com.

What we collect, and why

Your shopper profile

The first time you report or confirm a price, or open Settings, the app signs you in anonymously. This creates a random ID that identifies your profile to our server. It isn't linked to your name, phone number, or device identifiers. With it we store:

Other shoppers don't see your display name. AislePrice's managers, shoppers we appoint to review prices, see it, along with your tier, your points and the exact time of the report, when one of your prices or your profile comes up for review. A manager sees only the stores they look after, and each time a manager opens the list of prices to review is recorded, as their actions are. Names must follow our naming rules (no offensive words, and nothing that poses as AislePrice staff), and a manager can reset a name that doesn't.

Your email address, if you save your account

Saving your account is optional. If you do, we store your email address so you can sign back in on a new phone. We send it a one-time code to confirm it's yours, and again whenever you sign in. We may also occasionally email you about your account, for example to ask how AislePrice is working for you. Any email that isn't required to run your account has an unsubscribe link.

Prices you report and confirm

When you report a price, we store the product's barcode, the store, the price and its type (regular, sale, member, coupon or multi-buy), any sale end date or multi-buy quantity, the time, and whether you were in that store when you reported it. When you confirm or dispute someone else's price, we store your verdict and the time. If you add a product we don't know yet, we store its name, brand and size.

When the app thinks you're in the store you're reporting from or confirming at, it sends your current coordinates along, so our server can check you're there. The server keeps only the yes-or-no answer. Your coordinates are never saved with a report.

Prices are the point of AislePrice, so everyone who uses the app sees them, including the store, the price, how recent it is and how many shoppers agree. Other shoppers don't see who reported or confirmed a price.

We will never show your name next to a price, a store or a time. How recent a price is shows only roughly, such as "in the last 2 hours" or "yesterday", and our server rounds it the same way for anything that asks, so nobody can work out from AislePrice exactly when someone was in a store. If we add leaderboards, they'll show totals for an area, such as how many of your prices other shoppers confirmed in a city or state this month, never which stores you visited or when.

Your location

If you allow location access, the app reads your location while you're using it, to find the stores near you and to recognize the store you're standing in. Each time you compare prices, and when you report or confirm a price in a store, the app sends your current coordinates to our server, which uses them to look up nearby stores and prices, or to check you're in the store, and then discards them. We don't store your location or keep a history of where you've been. The app doesn't use your location in the background.

Camera

The app uses your camera to read barcodes. Reading happens entirely on your phone, using Google's on-device ML Kit barcode scanner on Android and Apple's Vision framework on iOS. Camera images are never stored or uploaded.

Your email address, if you ask for launch news

If you enter your email address on our website, we store it and the time you signed up, and send a link to confirm the address is yours. Once you confirm it, we send you one email when AislePrice launches, and then delete your address. An address nobody confirms is deleted after 7 days. It isn't connected to a profile or used for anything else. To have it removed sooner, email us. The form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to keep bots out.

Barcodes you look up

When you scan or type a barcode, the app sends it to our server to fetch prices. If we don't know the product yet, our server looks it up in Open Food Facts. For Fry's stores, our server asks Kroger for that barcode's price at the nearest Fry's. These lookups are made by our server, not your phone, and contain only the barcode and store, nothing about you. Our product and lookup records note what was looked up and when, but not who looked it up. To keep these lookups from being overused, we count how many each profile makes a day (the number only, not which barcodes) and delete the counts after a week. Your list of recent scans is kept on your phone only and is cleared when the app closes.

Crash reports

If the app crashes, a short report is saved on your phone: the app version and build, the code commit, your Android or iOS version and phone model, and where in the app's code the problem happened. On iOS, the crash data comes from the system, through Apple's MetricKit, the next time you open the app. The next time you open AislePrice, it asks whether to send it. Nothing is sent unless you choose Send, and choosing Don't send deletes it. A report doesn't include your profile, email, location, or anything you scanned or typed. We keep crash reports for 90 days.

Information kept on your phone

The app keeps your sign-in, any price reports made while you were offline, and any crash report waiting for your answer, on your phone until they're sent. On Android, they're in the app's private storage, and Android's app backup is turned off for AislePrice, so this information isn't copied to your Google account. On iOS, your sign-in is in the iOS Keychain, set to this device only, so it isn't included in backups or moved to a new phone. Offline reports and waiting crash reports are in the app's private storage and excluded from backups.

Keeping prices honest

A price far from what a product usually costs is held, and not shown, until another shopper reports the same price or a manager approves it. So is a price sent as part of an unusually fast run of reports from one profile. A price several shoppers dispute is set aside for a manager to look at. Managers can approve or remove prices, reset display names, and suspend or ban profiles that abuse AislePrice. We keep a record of each of these actions, and of shoppers' edits to their own reports, with when, which profile, and the reason given. These records refer to profiles by their random ID, not by name or email.

Server logs

Like most online services, our hosting providers keep short-lived technical logs of requests, which can include your IP address, the time, and the type of device or browser. These are used to keep the service running and secure, and to investigate abuse.

The website

aisleprice.com sets no cookies and shows no ads. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) processes your IP address to deliver the pages and protect the site.

To count how many people visit, the website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics. It records which page was viewed, the site that linked to it, your country, and your browser and device type. It doesn't use cookies, doesn't store your IP address, and doesn't follow you from one visit to the next or across other websites. We see only totals, never individual visitors.

What we don't do

Who else handles your information

We use a small number of service providers to run AislePrice. They handle information only to provide their service to us.

ProviderWhat they doWhat they see
Supabase (Amazon Web Services, US West)Hosts our database and sign-inEverything stored in AislePrice, described above

Google (Android app only)Provides on-device barcode reading (ML Kit) and location services, through Google Play services on your phoneGoogle Play services may collect device and usage data under Google's own privacy policy; camera images stay on your phone. The iOS app doesn't use ML Kit or Google Play services

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect AislePrice or its users from fraud or abuse, or as part of a sale or transfer of AislePrice, in which case this policy would continue to apply to your information.

How long we keep it

If you use AislePrice without saving your account and then uninstall the app, your anonymous profile and the prices you reported stay on our server, but nobody, including you, can sign back in to it.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have other rights over your personal information, such as the right to know what we hold, correct it, or object to how it's used. Email support@aisleprice.com and we'll respond within 30 days.

Security

Information travels between the app and our server over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Our database enforces that each shopper can read and change only their own reports and profile. No system is perfectly secure, but we limit what we collect so there's less to protect.

Children

AislePrice is meant for adult shoppers and is not directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we'll delete it.

Where your information is handled

AislePrice is run from Arizona, and your information is stored and processed in the United States.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we handle your information, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
